A COMBINATION OF EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE, specialized training, and the ability to systematically manage patients in a comprehensive treatment strategy, sets Top Doctors Dr. Stephen Pereira, Dr. Adam Rosenstock and Dr. George Mazpule apart as leaders in laparoscopic and robotic gastrointestinal surgery. “We were members of the first team of surgeons to bring robotic surgery into the region,” says Dr. Pereira, who is known to have performed robotic surgery longer than any other physician in the state and was the first to perform robotic single incision gallbladder removal in the New Jersey and New York metropolitan area. “We’re also recognized for the way we carefully and compassionately tend to our patients’ needs.”
Though the practice has extensive experience with traditional open surgery, the surgeons specialize in minimally invasive surgical procedures, including laparoscopy, and robotic surgery using the state-of-the-art robotic surgical system. The surgeons work with each patient to determine the best operative approach on a case-by-case basis. There is a wide range of conditions that can be treated using robotic surgery, such as colon and rectal cancer, diseases of the gallbladder, all types of hernias, weight loss surgery and diseases of the stomach, pancreatic disease and swallowing disorders, leaving patients with minimal scarring, less pain and faster recovery time. The group is highly skilled in understanding when to use minimally invasive and robotic procedures.
Stephen G. Pereira, M.D. is a board certified fellowship trained surgeon specializing in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery, with a particular interest in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. He is Director of the Robotic Surgery Fellowship (which he spearheaded in 2015) and Chief of the Division of Robotic General Surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center. Dr. Pereira is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.
Adam S. Rosenstock, M.D. is a board certified fellowship trained surgeon focusing on minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Rosenstock has a passion for treating all types of hernias including groin hernias, abdominal ventral hernias and management of complex and recurrent abdominal hernias, with specialized training in abdominal wall reconstruction. Dr. Rosenstock is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.
George A. Mazpule, M.D. is a board certified fellowship trained surgeon with an emphasis in laparoscopic and robotic techniques, and special interest in weight loss surgery. Dr. Mazpule completed his specialized training in a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.
